Cable winches used for the supply of for instance an underwater ROV. The cable winches are electrically driven, usually by several electro-motors on a common gear rim. ASME A/S has developed a unique method for securing a perfect load distribution between the individual motors. Winches are frequently supplied with active heave compensation, as ROV’s are usually parked in a garage or connected to a TMS under the water, and hence it is important that it is kept still in the water column, before connecting the ROV and the TMS.
